OnePlus One 64GB Review
OnePlus One 64GB delivers the performance of Samsung Galaxy S5 at quite an affordable cost. This may not make it too attractive, but the unique phone model as well features 1080p display and customizable OS. A few downsides exist, though overall, OnePlus proves to be a striking value for money.
The OnePlus joins exclusive Smartphone-list that includes Motorola Moto G, Google Nexus 4 and Nexus 5, which offer brilliant features for little amount of cash. It rivals Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8 for raw in terms of specifications. It is appreciably harder, making for a stylish, solid and hard-wearing mobile gadget with the latest off-shelf chip from Qualcomm thrown in the mix.
OnePlus One is pleasurable to both carry and handle. Lacking the gorgeous metallic sheen of HTC One M8, it is not too striking in appearance, although it does have convincing features. Even then this phone does feel great to hold, being constructed using quality matte shell which extends around sides and back of the device. This is not uni-body construction, with the rear panel being removable for purposes of customization, though it is fixed in place firmly with minimal flexing or creaking.
A metal-effect plastic separating the rear cover from glass front is present, somewhat cheapening effect in slight manner, but it is unadorned and thin. This implies the glass frontage stands out in some way, as opposed to melding into body of phone, though this effect is not unpleasant. It appears and feels and appears like a hybrid between Nokia Lumia 1520 and Nexus 5. OnePlus One is not a light or slim device in particular, but neither is absolute brick. It measures 152.9 x 75.9 x 8.9mm, having dimensions which make it slightly larger only, compared to Sony Xperia Z2 and LG G3. OnePlus One is lighter than Sony by 3g, weighing 160g.
The 5.5-inch display of this distinct phone makes it stand out from others within its class, being larger than what Galaxy S5 and One M8 presents. It however does exhibit the same Full High Definition 1920 x 1080 resolution. That causes it to be less pixel-dense, though with 401ppi. The phone features an In-Plane-Switching (IPS) display, implying it is accurate and sharp, even if viewed from an angle. The default brightness appears slightly weak, but this is a stark contrast of the pictures it produces in reality, which feature deep and impressive blacks.
OnePlus One has storage capacity of 64GB and a vaguely oblong black camera lies around its back part, which houses dual-LED flash and lens. It has been permitted to slightly jut out, with the flat surface peeking above curved shell. The unique phone houses tiny stereo-speakers pair on bottom edge of the gadget, as held in portrait mode, having two tell-tale machine-hole rows on either microUSB port side. Placement of buttons is fairly strong, power key being situated two-thirds upwards on right hand side, elongated volume rocker sitting opposite to the left.
